By using the Sankofa Botanical Hub (the "Archive"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Every record in the Archive reflects community and traditional knowledge, not professional medical guidance. Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. You are solely responsible for how you use any information found here.

You need an account to contribute plant records, save plants to a personal collection, or submit community tips. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.

When you submit a plant record, photo, or community tip, you retain ownership of what you contribute, but you grant the Archive a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute it as part of the public archive — including after your account is deleted, since verified traditional knowledge is preserved as a shared community record rather than removed with any single contributor's account.

You confirm that you have the right to share what you submit, and that doing so doesn't knowingly misrepresent traditional or cultural knowledge that isn't yours to share.

All submissions are reviewed by a curator (editor, admin, or superadmin) before publication. We may edit, decline, or remove any submission at our discretion — including after publication, if it's later found to be inaccurate, unsafe, or in violation of these terms.

Some features (photo-based plant identification, content drafting, the archive search assistant, community-tip safety checks) use AI. AI output is a starting draft or an assistive check, not a verified fact — it is always subject to human curator review before anything is published, and the automated safety check on tips does not guarantee safety.

Don't use the Archive to submit false, defamatory, or maliciously misleading content; to upload files you don't have the right to share or that aren't actually photos of the plant being documented; to attempt to bypass the curator review process; or to abuse, overload, or attack the service (including its AI-assisted features).

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile Settings. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data and contributions when you do.

The Archive is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, including as to the accuracy, completeness, or safety of any traditional-knowledge record — including AI-assisted ones and ones that have passed curator review, since human review reduces but does not eliminate the possibility of error.

If these terms change materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
